Gospel according to Mark

I love Sunday Mass where the Gospel is so impactful and it hits home and is an awesome example of God's love.
Today's Gospel was Mark 9: 30-37

The first impactful thing was when the disciples were arguing who was the greatest and Jesus' reply was 'If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be last of all and the servant of all'.
Awesome words that sound like, 'the exulted will be humbled and the humbled will be exulted'.
Even in the NFL draft the team with the worst record in last place picks first in the draft, and the best picks last.
God often tells us to put others before us. Why must we always have the closest parking spot or the shortest check out line ? Perhaps being last in the longest line will grant us first in the next check out lane open ?

The next impactful thing was 'whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me'. God says we only need 'Faith like a child'. Children have not a naive sense about God but a natural, instintctive sense about God. If we all followed our childlike instincts on faith matters, perhaps more of us would walk by faith and more of us could just believe. This scripture often reminds me of infant baptism.

Just wanted to share some thoughts as I wound down from a weekend and ease into another week, trying to minimize my Sunday Anxiety.

God Bless.
