I have to admit, when I get bored I log onto cbssports.com unto my secret screen name and check out the college fb messageboards. These message boards crack me up.
Most of them are gametime blogs where people sit at the computer and watch the games and type about it. But some of them are started to glorify their teams and/or conferences.
I logged onto one recently started the night of 1/8/09. The title of the thread was: SEC Baby, 3 titles in a row. It was started by an LSU Fan congratulating Fla on the title and the keeping the title in the conference, 3 years in a row.
It was AMAZING how many Big10 and USC fans commented on there saying stuff like: Fla won the title not the SEC, LSU fans stop riding Florida's coattails you didnt win, the SEC is overrated.
Honestly, give the SEC congratulatory name of the thread, Big10 fans need not open or reply.
Keep the thread in the family for our own fans.
I am in a reply battle now because someone said that the SEC-CBS contract was a waste of money and unfair to other conferences. He made a sarcastic comment that I guess all other conferences need to catch up.
Yes they do. All conferences should strive to put their schools on a national platform. This helps recruit academically and athletically. You can promote to football recruits national exposure before the NFL. You can have ads in each game for the academic side to promote out of state enrollment. Yes this contract with CBS is expensive but when you invest a lot of money in yourself or a business properly and wisely, there is supposed to be a payoff that helps you.
I think Big10 Fans and USC are just jealous. It is funny to see their excuses.
'LSU did not below in the title game in 2007 with two losses'
Really, the way it played out that year dumba** every team but OSU had two losses and had someone else gone to the title game they would have had 2 losses. A 2 loss LSU has a tougher schedule to overcome than a 1 loss Utah or Boise State.
Someone even said that Fla did not below in the 2006 game, it should have been tOSU and MI ... WTF, I am still laughing at that one.
Bottomline: If the SEC's national exposure gets you jealous, maybe you should think about the benefits of it and why they do it and wonder why other conferences are striving for it. It takes money but worth the investment.
