The Nativity: circa 2011

Tonight's Gospel was the story of the Archangel Gabriel's visit to Mary.
The homily talked a lot about messages and announcements and how messages can come in many forms with today's technology. I got to thinking, what would the Nativity story be like if it took place in 2011 and I created this story.

Mary would be cleaning her and Joseph's one room studio in Mid town Manhattan when Archangel Gabriel appeared with the news. Mary shocked and in need of support and prayer, turns to Facebook. Mary's status looks like this:

Mary Angel just dropped by, got some news, not sure how to tell Josesph

Next, Mary turns to twitter and her tweet is picked up by the local news stations and the 5pm News lead story is, "Local Virgin pregnant with the Lord's Baby", see our news at 10p for an interview with the Father.

Mary the next day is interviewed on GMA and The Today Show. Rumors abound on the internet and a mock You Tube video surfaces to make fun of Mary's impregnation of her womb. The video gets 2 million views on You Tube.

Joseph, still feeling ashamed and embarrassed is relieved of their visit back home for the tax census and end of the year meeting with their accountant. They schedule a flight home to Nazarethville on 12/24. Once at the airport, they findo out their flight is overbooked, there is no room. The local news again headlines the 10p news with the news of a Pregnant woman and her husband stranded at LaGuardia since there is no room on the plane.

Joseph goes to find a cot for Mary and all the cots are being used and they walk the terminal to find a spot for the night. There is only one gate at the terminal with empty seats to lie on and it's the smallest gate at the end. Joseph wipes the dust of the seats and creates a bed for Mary. Shortly after Midnight, a son is born in the smallest and oldest gate at the airport.

Sometime around January 6th, three wise men come knocking. Because their is an issue of paternity involved (come on, Joseph was not completely happy with all the news), Springer, Maury and Wilkos followed the new famed celebrity stars bringing gifts of paternity test, gold and checks, all vying for the episode where paternity is revealed.

After a while, like every good gossip story is, their :15 of fame ends and Kim Kardashian gets married again and the headlines turn away. The story of Mary and Joseph does not end here ...
