"I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character" ~ Martin Luther King, Jr
I saw the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter today and got disgusted.
If MLK, Jr. knows what is going on in Ferguson, MO over the past week he is rolling in his grave.
Why is it that the Black community has become virtually numb to nightly news stories of black on black violence but finds the needs to protest, rant, argue, yell and loot over a Grand Jury verdict they disagree with?
Technically Justice was had, evidence was heard. Just because you do not agree with it does not give anyone the right to loot, steal, destroy a community and the hard working local businesses there.
One thing that disturbed me about the verdict was that two hours before the verdict was read, the 24 hour news channels had live cameras on the crowds in the streets of Ferguson. I saw a car with four men wearing mask. Why are you wearing a mask already when you do not know what is to come?
Are you prepping to make trouble? Are you planning actions ?
If so, there is a difference in a courtroom between premeditated crimes and crimes of passion.
Premeditated murder tends to be more dangerous for conviction because it could have been prevented. So, did some people go out that night looking for trouble ? That is unacceptable.
These are the men to be judged regardless of race.
Why must the media focus on the negative stereotypes of the Black community?
Perhaps it is time to focus on the positive of the community to build each other up?
What color is God's skin? It is black, It is yellow, It is red, It is white, everyone's the same in the good Lord's light. Let's start judging men by their character and not the color of their skin like MLK, Jr said 50 years ago. It is time to start practicing what he preached.
