You can't always get what you want

If I always got what I wanted,  I would not be where I am right now in the position I am now.
And believe me, life is not what I planned right now but it is actually shaping out to be pretty good and possibilities are opening up better than I could have imagined.

Because I have not always gotten what I wanted, I have had to think more creatively, be more resourceful and fight more scrappily to get noticed, all while trying to maintain a bit of moderation, balance and tolerance in the real world. (I specifically mention the real world there because in the online social media world, sometimes it becomes a place to vent, type thoughts and just release things I have to get off my chest when I need someone to talk to). It is like a public journal sometimes. That can be good and bad. Sadly, most people who see me online know about me in person and that is fine with me. If you don't want to take the time to get to know me in person and just judge me from silly online stuff, I don't need you in my real life anyway.  One can have online friends, but it is the real world friends that take precedent.

Back to the purpose of this blog: You can't always get what you want.

Thinking about major topics today online and in the media, every issue comes back to someone wanting their way.
Someone wants to marry their partner.
Someone wants money in a will.
Someone wants to smoke in an establishment where smoking is banned.
Someone wants to make a choice of their own to end life on their terms.

Sometimes you have to follow the law. If everyone got their way and to do their own thing, the world would be running a little wild and crazy. Sometimes you have to submit control and put your own ego aside. You win some, you lose some. It is best to accept things as is and trust that there is a better plan for the future. It is not always clear at that moment but it will get brighter with each passing day.
