Dear Usher,
I'm very disappointed in your newest song and it's lack of a positive image for young females.
I mean I don't expect our rappers to be clean cut role models anymore. I gave up on that in the 90's.
But I do expect decent lyrics that imply you have some creative talent, not just some words you might have been saying while high and decided to make a song.
First let's talk about the 29 million views on You tube for "I don't mind"
I hope that the majority of these views are representing the computer bots and show how prevalent click fraud is on the internet and the falsifying of clicks in reporting. I hope for humanities sake, 29 million people have not watched/listened to this video.
Let's take this by the lyrics, trying to stay in order:
I don't mind if you dance on a pole, that don't make you a hoe ....
Well thank you for giving your permission to women everywhere to earn a living this way if they so need it.
I don't mind if you're working til three if you're leaving with me ....
Thank you Usher for flaunting your girl to the world and okaying this and saying, I get to take her home at the end of the night. Little Boys Clubs everywhere are high fiving you right now.
Go make that money, money, money ...
Why does your girl have to make the money while you flaunt her and leave with her at 3, seems like if you're that proud of her you don't mind making the money and supporting her to raise your family.
You can take off your clothes as long as you coming home ...
Show the men the merchandise but they can't buy, she's mine. What a lesson for young Ladies.
True gentleman don't flaunt their Ladies wears around town.
I make enough for the both of us but you dance anyway ...
I am calling bullshit on this. What self respecting Lady dances for the fun of it when she does not need the money? You're sitting on your ass all day while she makes the money and your flaunt her around town. This is not a male role model we should be encouraging our young Ladies to be around.
You can twerk while in a split, you're racking up them tips, You're body rockin', You're booty poppin' I'm proud to call you my b*tch ...
Ladies, feminist .... pay attention ... 29 million views of this video is a giant step backwards.
Women are not trailblazing to become strong and independent to be proud to be anyone's b*tch.
Celebrities are all over social media at the Oscars "enraged" about equal pay.
How do women expect to get equal pay when you are supporting this song and not getting enraged?
Ladies, you are not anyone's b*tch. Wake up. Demand a little more self respect from yourselves and your men. Geez ... it's really quite simple.
They be lookin' but they can't touch, I'm the only one to get it ....
Ladies, he is saying you are a trophy or a piece of meat that is his. Please see the SNL MLK sketch with Keenan Thompson on you tube now ... Keep climbing that mountain!
I close by saying, this song is playing on 2 hour rotation on CHR radio stations everywhere, on Pandora, on you tube ... and young girls are dancing to this thinking it is cool.
Listen to the lyrics Ladies, think about it.
This is not cool. You should mind.
