Today I got home this evening and cried for five minutes. Not just teared up, there were some heavy breathing sobs. I am not getting into those reasons right now, that is not the purpose of the post.
Then I turned to the Gospel reading for today and today's Living Faith summary.
It was what I needed to hear and do. Luke 6:36-38
I got dressed again and went to Wal-Greens and bought (4) $5 Subway gift cards and I had my January and February Mass scripture books with me. There was a man outside passing out the Streetwise newsletter (it's a newsletter the Homeless pass out/sell for donations). I asked him if he'd like a gift card for Subway to get dinner. He accepted. I asked him if he read scripture and he said yes and I told him, these have helped me, hope they help you too. I then continued walking to do my errand. When I walked past him again he smiled and said Hello and Thanks again.
I have three more to share. I have not done this in a long time and it's a little thing to do during Lent and keep up after Easter that brightens someone's day in need.
Lent is not just about giving something up. It is about doing something to. Pass it on.
